Carson and his interpretation of end time prophesy

Traces of the anti-Catholic prejudice White expressed in her writings can still be found in Adventism. Carson rejects that bias.

'I love Catholics. My best friend is Catholic. I have several honorary degrees from Catholic universities,' he said.

Carson also addressed White's end-of-the world prophecy about Jesus' return. She predicted that the government, with the help of Christians who celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday, will persecute Seventh-day Adventists for their Saturday worship.
'I think there's a wide variety of interpretations of that. There's a lot of persecution of Christians going on already in other parts of world.

'And some people assume that's going to happen every place. I'm not sure that's an appropriate assumption,' he said.

'If you look at what's going on today with persecution of Christians, particularly in the Middle East, I believe that's really more what's being talked about.'

Rome's doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men

God's Word has given warning of the impending danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage-ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the Word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution. GC p. 581

Victory over sin is being like Christ

Victory over sin is being like Christ. The Bible is full of the principles, sentiments, and commands to be perfect “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”. Matt 5:48. Just as sure as we are living in the last remaining chapters of the Bible and the end of time, all that we have read, heard, been admonished about in God’s word and the spirit of prophecy that has come to pass, the latter rain, sealing, Sunday law crisis, endtime deceptions of every kind, second coming will definitely happen as prophets have declared they will. God says in Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord God will do nothing but, he revealeth his secret to his the servants the prophets.” In our journey to be like Christ we have a work to do as God has a work to do.
God does the changing as we continually and daily submit and obey his word. Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul temple of every defilement. Then the latter rain will fall upon us as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the Day of Pentecost.”5T 214 Here is one of many statements with a very familiar sentiment that if our characters do not reflect Christ fully we will not be sealed and if we are not sealed we will not receive the latter rain and it is left up to us to crucify self daily submit to God’s will and allow him to wrought a change in our spiritually wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked lives.  Source

Uplift Jesus as the center

I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Revelation 22:16.

The perils of the last days are upon us, and in our work we are to warn the people of the danger they are in. Let not the solemn scenes which prophecy has revealed be left untouched. If our people were half awake, if they realized the nearness of the events portrayed in the Revelation, a reformation would be wrought in our churches, and many more would believe the message. We have no time to lose. . . . Advance new principles, and crowd in the clear-cut truth. It will be as a sword cutting both ways. But be not too ready to take a controversial attitude. There will be times when we must stand still and see the salvation of God. Let Daniel speak, let the Revelation speak, and tell what is truth. But whatever phase of the subject is presented, uplift Jesus as the center of all hope, "the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."

We do not go deep enough in our search for truth. Every soul who believes present truth will be brought where he will be required to give a reason of the hope that is in him. The people of God will be called upon to stand before kings, princes, rulers, and great men of the earth, and they must know that they do know what is truth. They must be converted men and women. God can teach you more in one moment by His Holy Spirit than you could learn from the great men of the earth. The universe is looking upon the controversy that is going on upon the earth. At an infinite cost, God has provided for every man an opportunity to know that which will make him wise unto salvation. How eagerly do angels look to see who will avail himself of this opportunity! When a message is presented to God's people, they should not rise up in opposition to it; they should go to the Bible, comparing it with the law and the testimony, and if it does not bear this test, it is not true. God wants our minds to expand. He desires to put His grace upon us. We may have a feast of good things every day, for God can open the whole treasure of heaven to us.  Maranatha p. 23

Pope says 'catastrophic' if interests derail climate talks

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Pope Francis warned Thursday that it would be "catastrophic" for world leaders to let special interest groups get in the way of a global agreement to curb fossil fuel emissions as he brought his environmental message to the heart of Africa on the eve of crucial climate change talks in Paris.
Francis issued the pointed warning in a speech to the U.N.'s regional office here after celebrating his first public Mass on the continent. The joyous, rain-soaked ceremony before 300,000 faithful saw the Argentine pope being serenaded by ululating Swahili singers, swaying nuns, Maasai tribesmen and dancing children dressed in the colors of Kenya's flag.
Francis has made ecological concerns a hallmark of his nearly 3-year-old papacy, issuing a landmark encyclical earlier this year that paired the need to care for the environment with the need to care for humanity's most vulnerable. Francis argues the two are interconnected since the poor often suffer the most from the effects of global warming, and are largely excluded from today's fossil-fuel based global economy that is heating up the planet.
On Thursday, Francis repeated that message but took particular aim at those who reject the science behind global warming. In the United States, that includes some Republican presidential candidates and lawmakers, who have opposed steps President Barack Obama has taken on his own to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
"It would be sad, and dare I say even catastrophic, were special interests to prevail over the common good and lead to manipulating information in order to protect their own plans and interests," Francis said.
He didn't elaborate, but in the United States at least, there has been a well-funded campaign that rejects the findings of 97 percent of climate scientists that global warming is likely man-made and insists that any heating of the Earth is natural. Politicians have cited these claims in their arguments that emissions cuts will hurt the economy.
Francis' message was praised by NASA historian Erik Conway, who co-wrote the 2010 book "Merchants of Doubt," which detailed the attempts by far-right institutions and like-minded scientists to discredit the science behind global warming and spread confusion in the public.
Conway said it was difficult to determine today how much money is still being directed into climate change denial since much if it goes through foundations.
"But what that funding has achieved is the nearly complete conversion of Republican Party leadership into denial of human-caused climate change as well as public confusion over the content of the science," he said in an email.
Francis, who has said global warming is "mainly" man-made, said the world was faced with a stark choice in Paris: either improve or destroy the environment. He said he hoped the Paris talks would approve a "transformational" agreement to fight poverty and protect the environment by developing a new energy system that depends on minimal fossil fuel use.
"Many are the faces, the stories and the evident effects on the lives of thousands of people for whom the culture of deterioration and waste has allowed to be sacrificed before the idols of profits and consumption," he said. "We cannot remain indifferent in the face of this. We have no right."
His speech followed a similarly emphatic one before the U.N. General Assembly in New York in September, and in various speeches on his travels to South America and Asia.
Thursday was the second day in a row that Francis had touched on environmental concerns after he arrived in Kenya for a six-day pilgrimage that also takes him to Uganda on Friday and the conflict-ridden Central African Republic.
Francis' first full day in Africa began with a meeting with about 25 Kenyan Christian and Muslim leaders. He warned them that they had little choice but to engage in dialogue to guard against the "barbarous" Islamic extremist attacks that have struck the country.
"Dialogue is not a luxury. It is not something extra or optional, but essential," he said.
He later celebrated Mass before about 300,000 people at the University of Nairobi, where he received a raucous welcome from the crowd as he zoomed around in his open-sided popemobile, some 10,000 police providing security. Some people had been at the university since 3 a.m., braving heavy showers that turned the grounds into enormous, slick mud puddles. Others waited in queues 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) deep to get close to the venue.
"I am a Catholic and I believe he is godsend," said Nelly Ndunge, 29, as she waited to see Francis at the Mass. She said Francis' visit to Kenya was a blessing because it would renew her faith - and had boosted her printing business: She said she had already sold nearly 3,000 copies of a 2016 calendar with the pope's portrait on it.
Still others turned back, fearing a stampede given the disorganized security.
"We were all disappointed," said Sarah Ondiso, a senior government official. "The organizers could have done better."
The size of the crowd - estimated by both police and the Vatican - was far smaller than the 1.4 million that Kenyan authorities had expected after declaring Thursday a national holiday. Vatican officials had predicted a maximum of a half-million people, and said the lower number was apparently due to accreditation and ticketing problems.
In his homily, Francis appealed for traditional family values, calling for Kenyans to "resist practices which foster arrogance in men, hurt or demean women, don't care for the elderly and threaten the life of the innocent unborn."
The African church is among the most conservative in the world, and African bishops have been at the forefront in insisting that traditional church teachings on marriage and sexuality, and its opposition to abortion, be strongly emphasized.
Francis obliged, but also stressed issues of his own concern: He called for Kenyans to shape a more just society that looks out for the poor and to "reject everything that leads to prejudice and discrimination, for these things are not of God."
It wasn't immediately clear what he was referring to. But in the crowd, there were Kenyans wearing t-shirts and toting umbrellas reading "Who Am I to Judge" - a reference to Francis' famous quip when asked about a purportedly gay priest. The citation has often been taken to embody Francis' insistence that gays must be welcomed in the church and not discriminated against.

Two senior Seventh-day Adventist leaders joined participants of a Russian government-organized conference on religious freedom in pledging to fight against a growing “perversion of religion” worldwide by those who use the language of faith to justify violence and terrorism.

Delegates attending the Third International Forum on Religion and Peace at Moscow’s President Hotel.

The Third International Forum on Religion and Peace, a rare gathering of leaders from across Russia’s religious and political spectrum, met Oct. 29 in the Great Hall of Moscow’s President Hotel and included scholars, public officials, and religious leaders representing the Orthodox, Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, and Islamic communities.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church was represented by Ganoune Diop, director of the public affairs and religious liberty department for the world church, and Oleg Goncharov, director of the public affairs and religious liberty department in the church’s Euro-Asia Division.

In his address to the assembly, Diop focused on the foundational place of religious freedom within the pantheon of human rights. He emphasized that it is a God-given right not subject to political agendas, and he urged all those present to work together to preserve and extend this “first freedom.”

On the day before the forum, Diop and Goncharov visited the State Duma, Russia’s national parliament, to meet various public officials responsible for church-state relations in the country. They also met with Alexander Kudryavtsev, who heads one of Russia’s most active public organizations focused on religious liberty, the Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedoms.

Diop, left, and Goncharov, second left, listening to a delegate speak at the forum.

At the conclusion of the forum, participants adopted a resolution expressing deep concern about rising religious extremism. They also urged greater action on the part of the international community in stemming the continued destruction of Christian communities in the Middle East and Africa, and they expressed solidarity with all those suffering persecution for their faith.

The event was jointly organized by Russia’s Presidential Council for Cooperation with Religious Organizations, and Moscow’s Department of National Policy, Inter-Regional Relations, and Tourism. It was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill, along with other religious and public leaders.

Pastor Franklin Graham, son of well-known evangelist Billy Graham, attended the forum, along with Metropolitan Hilarion, director of the department for external church relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, and Allahshukur Pashazade, chair of the Religious Council of the Caucasus.

I am thankful to not be ensnared in the darkness and confusion the mass media puts out every day

thankfulnessBy Bernie Suarez

Anyone who is awakened to the worldwide horrors the US, ISIS and their allies are imposing on the rest of humanity knows that the thing that makes these horrors worse is the accompanying deceptive mainstream media 24/7 lies. There’s nothing worse than seeing Western mainstream media continue to portray ISIS as if they are the “enemy” of the US, while the US military and Western-backed nations like Turkey, Israel, and Saudi Arabia continue to support ISIS. As a result, the ongoing bold lies and the obnoxious propaganda is further repelling awakened humanity from mainstream media and driving a permanent wedge between the freed human mind and the entire concept of Western propaganda. The whole thing is sickening and repulsive, and I believe freedom-loving humanity is responding to this worldwide.

The recent inundation of lies and over-the-top propaganda intended to lead us toward World War 3, is so obnoxious and mentally repelling that truth seekers can easily make a choice to separate themselves for an entire day (Thanksgiving day) to reminisce how fortunate we are to not be plagued by these ongoing lies. If you haven’t thought of this, I want to invite all truth seekers to do just that on this Thanksgiving day. Let’s turn off mainstream media and let’s be thankful for the awareness we have about the world around us. Let’s believe that there is a reason for the awareness. I believe humanity has a mechanism of self-preservation and we are the expression of that preservation. For that I am thankful today and so should you.

For comparison, those who are not awakened on this Thanksgiving day believe that Barack Obama is doing everything he can to keep them safe from ISIS. They believe that Turkey was defending their air space in the recent shoot-down of the Russian jet. They even accept that on this Thanksgiving day, the ramped-up police state is the proper solution to the “terrorism” we see marketed on TV by the mainstream media. These enslaved elements of humanity are aimlessly living out their lives becoming further enslaved and divided amongst themselves with every day that they continue to feed their minds with mainstream media lies. As truth seekers we continue to show and share truth with these people, but nothing you can say will guarantee that these people will wake up.
Therefore, the misery, confusion and ignorance that mainstream media believers live in should not be underestimated on this Thanksgiving day and should serve as a reminder that all of us could easily still be stuck in a similar mental enslavement. There is, therefore, no better day to be appreciative of the information and awareness we all share that allows us to be completely immune from the next false flag attack or 24/7 mainstream media scaremongering story.

It’s been said, sometimes you don’t appreciate what you have until it’s taken away. So today, especially in light of the mayhem and confusion borne of continuous mass lies and deception from mainstream media, I am thankful to not be ensnared in the darkness and confusion the mass media puts out every day. Let us realize today that our unique resistance to Western mainstream media lies is one of the great gifts we share. It is unquestionably a source of life, a mental freedom and hope that only someone still bogged down in mainstream media lies cannot understand.

I believe the gift of comfortably and seamlessly not believing mainstream media is becoming one of the secrets to living a rich and fulfilling life. Detachment from mainstream media itself is a source of energy that few even in the truth movement fail to fully contextualize. What that means is that it is becoming entirely impossible to believe mainstream media and be happy unless one resorts to cognitive dissonance and repression of information. If this is the case then the person is not truly happy, instead they are repressing what they believe to be true (mainstream media lies), hoping that the stories will eventually fade away.

The happiness and mental freedom I speak about is not some special state of mind obtained through hypnosis or special self-help technique. Instead it is the mental freedom of seeing mainstream media propaganda and knowing and understanding in real-time that the information has a unique political purpose and is not a result of true journalism.

As we give thanks, let us realize that regardless of what happens today, the immediate future can look grim. Grim because although the new world order is failing on many levels it is also responding to this failure with a more intense effort. Thus in some ways we are observing as the new world order tries to give birth. To use medical terms, hopefully that birth becomes a traumatic life-ending still-birth.

There is a struggle going on and the stakes are getting higher. The oligarchs are undoubtedly unhappy that they are failing so they desperately attempt to keep up their proxy terror armies like ISIS because if ISIS is destroyed the new world order plans go with it.

Let’s harness this knowledge, expect the worse and hope for the best. Let’s not be unrealistic about the dangerous world we live in and the stakes at hand. None of us signed up for this madness including the degree of ignorance and bliss on the part of most Americans.

The Thankful Leper

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

The Myth of Thanksgiving

By Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
The First Thanksgiving 1621, oil on canvas by Jean Leon Gerome Ferris (1899) (Image altered)
Thanksgiving is the favorite holiday of many US Americans; unlike the rather boring or divisive holidays that honor Columbus, Presidents, Martin Luther King, Jr., Independence, veterans and war, the birth of a religion, and a new year, Thanksgiving is centered on sharing food with family and friends. Individuals and families travel long distances at great expense to be with one another. It might be surprising to learn that the cherished tradition of Thanksgiving is, in fact, the most nationalist of all holidays because it narrates the national origin myth. The traditional meal, as we know, consists of the foods cultivated by Indigenous farmers—corn, squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and turkey.

The US origin story of a covenant with God goes back to the Mayflower Compact, the first governing document of the Plymouth Colony. It is named for the ship that carried the hundred or so passengers, half of them religious dissidents, to what is now Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in November 1620. This compact marked the beginning of settler democracy, which from its inception sought the elimination of the Indigenous. Behind the black clothed and solemn “Pilgrims,” was a corporation of shareholders, the Virginia Company, accompanied by armed and seasoned mercenaries on a colonizing project ordered by the English King James. If any local Natives were present at a colonizers’ celebratory meal, they were surely there as servants, and the foods were confiscated, not offered as a gift.

“Thanksgiving” became a named holiday during the Civil War, but neither Pilgrims, nor Indians, nor food, nor the Mayflower—all essential to today’s celebration—were mentioned in Lincoln’s 1863 proclamation.

It was during the Great Depression that the Thanksgiving holiday was transformed into a nationalistic origin story to bind a chaotic society experiencing economic and social collapse. But this idea of the gift-giving Indian, helping to establish and enrich what would become the United States, is an insidious smoke screen meant to obscure the fact that the very existence of the country is a result of the looting of an entire continent and its resources.

In 1970, on the 350th anniversary of the English settlers—“Pilgrims”—occupying land of the Wampanoag Nation, the United American Indians of New England led a protest of the Thanksgiving holiday, which they called a “National Day of Mourning.” Every year since that time, the National Day of Mourning has taken place at Plymouth Rock. They rightly accuse the United States government of having invented a myth to cover the reality of colonialism and attempted genocide. By Thanksgiving 1970, Native Americans from many Indigenous nations had been occupying Alcatraz Island for a year. It was the height of renewed Native resistance to US colonial institutions and calls for sovereignty and self-determination, which have continued and seen many victories as well as new obstacles. In 2007, after three decades of Indigenous Peoples’ lobbying, the United Nations General Assembly passed the “Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.”

Thanksgiving needs another transformation, a day to mourn US colonization and attempted genocide and celebrate the survival of Native Nations through their resistance.

The benefits of practicing gratitude

The benefits of practicing gratitude are innumerable. It helps release toxic emotions such as frustration, envy, regret and resentment while increasing sensitivity and empathy toward others. Being grateful also improves self-esteem and personal relationships by reducing social comparisons and supporting prosocial behavior.
While it’s common knowledge that cultivating gratitude is good for us, it’s not common practice for many of us. Here are five ways to change that.
  1. Give thanks immediately upon waking.
Every morning before jumping out of bed into the new day, pause for a few moments and give thanks for the following: the opportunity to live and experience another new day; the people in your life whom you love and who love you; the good night’s rest you just had; the work you get to go to later; the clothes that keep you warm, and the commute money you have so you don’t have to walk to work.
  2. Give thanks before every meal.
As you sit before your meal, make a quick mental note to feel thankful for the food that fuels your body and ultimately aids in the realization of your goals and dreams. Also give thanks to the meals for nourishing you and for giving you a breather to savor life in the midst of a crazy workday. If you happen to be with company, give thanks for the friendship, companionship and love you receive from the person you’re with.
  3. Give thanks when moving or exercising.
We often take for granted our good health and the freedom that comes with it. Whenever you’re walking, running or exercising, take the occasion to give thanks for having the ability to move as you wish and to stay fit. Especially when you’re in the midst of a tough workout routine, repeat in your heart, “I’m so grateful for my hands, legs, beating heart and good health.” This mantra never fails to keep me going till the end of the session and I hope it’ll work for you too.
  4. Give thanks while showering or getting ready for bed.
At the end of each day, wrap up the day by doing the following gratitude practice in your shower or when getting ready for bed: Give thanks for the day that has been completed. Focus on the parts of the day that went well. Next, give thanks for having a home to return to, a hot shower to keep you feeling fresh and clean, and a warm bed to sleep in later.
  5. Give thanks each time something wonderful happens or when a problem is solved.
Whenever something good happens or when you overcome a challenge or avert a crisis, take a moment to express your appreciation to the universe. It’s important to acknowledge the victory and the hard work that went into it and to soak in the relief before getting back into the humdrum of our daily lives. More often than not, it isn’t that good things don’t happen to us, it’s just that we don’t pay enough attention to them.   Psycentral

How Can We Have A Better Country?

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city."
Hebrews 11:13-16
"For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come."
Hebrews 13:14
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."
Revelation 21:1-3
"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
Proverbs 29:2
In this issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, we will examine the corrupt nature of this present day world. At this present time, those of us who live in the United States of America realize all too well what it is like to live in a country that suffers from immoral leadership. The deeds of our president, Barack Obama, have frustrated most conservative Americans with his numerous executive orders, his climate change agenda, his promotion of Planned Parenthood, and his unwavering support of same-sex marriage. The promotion of such liberal values sometimes prompts folks to consider moving out of the United States entirely and seek a country where such ungodliness does not abound. Yet, we live in a corrupt world that is continually growing worse. To find such a country could prove to be a rather difficult endeavor.
It is not uncommon to hear frustrated Americans threaten to migrate to our neighboring country to the north, known as Canada. However, the nation of Canada is not a bastion of conservative values either, and the recent election of a new prime minister suggests that liberal principles will be guiding the country for the foreseeable future. On October 19, 2015, Justin Trudeau, who is the leader of the Liberal Party in Canada, was elected as prime minister of Canada. The 43 year-old, who is the son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, (1) is a viciously liberal man who supports same-sex marriage and absolutely loves abortion. In fact, Trudeau's support of abortion is so extreme that he believes unlimited abortions should be available to women up until the time of birth. (2) He has also decreed that when it comes to abortion, all members of his Liberal Party must be "pro-choice." "I have made it clear that future candidates need to be completely understanding that they will be expected to vote pro-choice on any bills," Trudeau said in 2014. (3) In March 2015, Trudeau made a similar statement and was quoted as saying, "The Canada we know today is unimaginable without widely available birth-control and the legalization of choice. Let's be clear on this. For Liberals, the right of a woman to control her body is more important than the right of a legislator to restrict her freedom with their vote. MPs (members of parliament) who disagree with that have other choices. They can sit as independents or as Conservatives." (4) Regarding the homosexual lifestyle, Trudeau said in a video published in July 2013, "The Liberal Party believes that the advancement of LGBTTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, and queer) rights is a priority and we hope you will join us in continuing this vital work. Here in Canada, our record as a leader in LGBTTQ rights is recognized globally and Liberals are proud of our contributions." (5) Amazingly enough, Justin Trudeau has even expressed admiration for the communist dictatorship in China. Speaking on November 15, 2013, Trudeau said, "There is a level of admiration I actually have for China, because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say we need to go green, we need to start, you know, investing in solar." (6) Perhaps his fondness for communist dictatorship is not that surprising, considering the fact that Justin's father, the late Pierre Trudeau, maintained a lifelong friendship with Cuba's former dictator, Fidel Castro. (7)
Oddly enough, the elder Trudeau's views on abortion were quite different from those of his son. Although Pierre Trudeau was very liberal and did much to expand abortions in Canada, comments he made in the past suggest that he had mixed feelings on the subject and knew that abortion is wrong. "You know, at some point you are killing life in the fetus in self-defense - of what? Of the mother's health or her happiness or of her social rights or her privilege as a human being. I think she should have to answer for it and explain. Now, whether it should be to three doctors or one doctor or to a priest or a bishop or to her mother-in-law is a question you might want to argue. You do have a right over your own body - it is your body. But the fetus is not your body; it's someone else's body. And if you kill it, you'll have to explain," said Pierre Trudeau in 1972. (8)
Without a doubt, the rise of Justin Trudeau is bad news for conservative people living in Canada. It is also interesting to note that he is a Jesuit-trained Roman Catholic. On October 20, 2014, Trudeau said, "As someone who was raised Roman Catholic and who attended a Jesuit school, I understand that it is difficult for people of deep faith to set their beliefs aside in order to serve Canadians who may not share those beliefs. But for me, this is what liberalism is all about. It is the idea that private belief, while it ought to be valued and respected, is fundamentally different from public duty." (9)
As we look around in this world, it quickly becomes evident that every country has its own unique set of problems. Those who seek a perfect country will never find it here on earth. Yet, in Hebrews 11 we are told of many faithful servants of God who sought a better country. Hebrews 11:16 tells us, "But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city." In Revelation 21:1-3 we are told more about this wonderful city in a better country. These verses tell us, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God." The people who inhabit this city, the new Jerusalem, will be those who love God and obey His Word. If you would like to dwell in a better country, I urge you to dedicate your life to God and give him your heart.

Will The United States Improve After The 2016 Election?
There has been a lot of frustration here in the United States, particularly amongst conservative people, since January 2009 when Barack Obama began his first term as president. Since that time many people have anxiously awaited his departure in the hope that his successor will bring about welcomed change and improvements to America. After all, how could anyone be worse than Barack Obama as president? Yet, when I scrutinize the current batch of potential presidents for the 2016 election, I must say, those who are considered the top four candidates do not inspire confidence.
The current frontrunner for the Republican Party is none other than famed business mogul and reality television star Donald Trump. According to a recent poll published on October 25, 2015, by the Associated Press, Trump is considered to be the most electable candidate with 7 out of 10 Republican and right-leaning voters saying he could win the election. (10) Yet, I believe there are good reasons to doubt that Donald Trump is even a conservative. In the not too distant past, Trump was a registered Democrat who claimed he was pro-choice, "very liberal" when it comes to healthcare, and a supporter of prominent liberal politicians such as Hillary Clinton. (11) In fact, Trump has donated money to Clinton on numerous occasions, including a 100,000 dollar donation to the Clinton Foundation. (12) When questioned about such donations, Trump defended his actions by saying that such donations were reasonable because "everyone is Democratic" in the state of New York. "So, what am I going to do, contribute to Republicans? Am I going to contribute to, I mean, one thing I'm not stupid. Am I going to contribute to a Republican for my whole life when they get, they run against some Democrat. And the most they can get is one percent of the vote," Trump stated. (13) On another occasion, when speaking to rival candidate Rand Paul, Trump declared that his political donations to Democrats enabled him to extract favors from them. "Hillary Clinton, I said be at my wedding, and she came to my wedding. She had no choice because I gave to a foundation," Trump declared. He later went on to say, "I gave to many people before this. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them two years later, three years later, I call them. They are there for me." (14) At this point we should ask ourselves if this sounds like a man of integrity, or rather a man who is willing to support anyone in a position of power if it means he can use them to gain favor and get ahead in life.
In current polls the second ranked Republican candidate at this time is former neurosurgeon Benjamin Carson. Without a doubt, Carson is a brilliant man, and he has at times said things that I agree with. However, I find it disheartening that Dr. Carson believes vaccinations should be mandatory for all. According to a report published by CNN in February 2015, Dr. Carson stated that there should be no religious or philosophical exemptions for vaccinations, despite the fact that most states do allow such exemptions at this time. (15) The doctor further explained his position in an article published by The Washington Times on February 10, 2015. "I am a small government person, and I greatly oppose government intrusion into everything. Still, it is essential that we distinguish between those things that are important and those things that are just intruding upon our basic privacy. Whether to participate in childhood immunizations would be an individual choice if individuals were the only ones affected, but as previously mentioned, our children are part of a larger community. None of us live in isolation. Your decision does not affect only you - it also affects your fellow Americans." (16) Regardless of how one might feel about the efficacy of vaccinations, every parent and every adult should have the right to accept or decline to be immunized. If the government can force us to receive immunizations, what might be next? What if they declared that every American should receive a microchip in their right hand or forehead for the good of society? Furthermore, it is a verifiable fact that aborted fetal cells were used in the development of many vaccines. In fact, the origin of one of the cell lines used to develop vaccines was described by man named Dr. Stanley Plotkin who said, "This fetus was chosen by Dr. Sven Gard, specifically for this purpose. Both parents are known, and unfortunately for the story, they are married to each other, still alive and well, and living in Stockholm, presumably. The abortion was done because they felt they had too many children. There were no familial diseases in the history of either parent, and no history of cancer specifically in the families." (17) Clearly, there is a legitimate ethical reason not to receive vaccinations.
Unfortunately, it is a very real possibility that the next president of the United States could be none other than Hillary Rodham Clinton. The current frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination is heavily supported by liberal people far and wide despite the fact that she has shown herself to be a deceitful and wicked woman. In one statement, which I had previously quoted in an earlier issue of this newsletter, Hillary Clinton said, "Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed." (18) Keeping this quote in mind, there is no question that she would seek to inflict her will upon the people if she should become president.
Evidence also shows that the former Secretary of State is a habitual liar. In the aftermath of an attack by terrorists on the United States Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012, Hillary Clinton lied about the cause of the attack and stated that it was prompted by the publishing of an anti-Islamic video on the video sharing website known as YouTube. Yet that very night of September 11, 2012, Clinton sent an email to the Egyptian Prime Minister which stated, "We know that the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film. It was a planned attack, not a protest." This violent attack claimed the lives of American Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, and Information Management Officer Sean Smith. (19) On another occasion, Clinton lied about the so-called financial struggles that she and her husband endured after Bill Clinton left the White House in 2001. Speaking during an interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC, Clinton said, "You have no reason to remember, but we came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea's education. It was not easy." (20) It should be noted, however, that the Clintons purchased a home in Chappaqua, New York, for 1.7 million dollars in 1999. In the following year of 2000, they purchased an additional home in Washington, D.C., for 2.85 million dollars. (21)
Another individual who is seeking the presidential nomination from the Democratic Party is a man by the name of Bernie Sanders. Although he is technically an independent, this Senator from the state of Vermont caucuses with the Democratic Party. As it turns out, he is also a socialist, a fact that he openly admits. In fact, a report published on October 18, 2015, claims that Sanders is planning to give a "major" speech on democratic socialism to explain his political doctrine to the people. "I think there are a lot of people who, when they hear the word 'socialist' get very, very nervous," Sanders said. He later went on to say, "What we're probably going to do to begin with is hold a major speech in the not-to-distant future to define exactly what I mean by democratic socialism. To me democratic socialism means democracy. It means creating a government that represents all of us, not just the wealthiest people in the country." Sanders then suggested that the United States needs to emulate socialistic systems found in nations such as Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. "They may not be familiar with some of the very positive policies that those governments have developed for the middle class and working families. So I think that's a discussion we have to have," Sanders stated. (22) One fact that Sanders neglects to tell people, however, is that socialistic governments have extraordinarily high taxes. In fact, the Scandinavian nation of Denmark's top personal income tax rate is a whopping 60.2 percent. This rate applies to all incomes which exceed what would be the equivalent of 55,000 United States dollars. (23) Amazingly enough, Bernie Sanders has garnered a significant amount of support, particularly from young people who have been led to believe that socialism is good. However, I would rather not have the government take care of me, and I do not want the government to control the means of production in my country, which is exactly what happens in a socialistic society.
Thankfully, as God's children we understand that it is far better to put our faith in God rather than man. For as it tells us in Psalm 118:8, "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." Ultimately, regardless of who is elected, God is still on the throne and He will never disappoint us.

A Migrant Crisis In Europe!
In this world we live in today, it seems there is always a crisis of some sort. At this present time, what has come to be known as "the migrant crisis" is causing great difficulty in Europe. As of this writing, 705,251 refugees and migrants have crossed the Mediterranean Sea and arrived in Europe this year. (24) Of these migrants, 53 percent have come from the war-torn nation of Syria, 18 percent have arrived from Afghanistan, and 6 percent have arrived from Iraq. (25)
As large camps of migrants spring up all over Europe, many locales are struggling to find adequate housing for them. This includes the town of Calais in France where 6,000 migrants are now living in tents. Although 750 police officers have been assigned to the camp to keep order, the mayor of the town has suggested more security personnel may be necessary. "Maybe the army should come to watch over the place," said Mayor Natacha Bouchard. (26) Meanwhile, the influx of migrants to the nation of Sweden has been unprecedented. "The current refugee situation lacks an equivalent in modern times. We see people literally walking through Europe," said Anders Danielsson who is Director-General of the Swedish Migration Board. It is estimated that 190,000 migrants will arrive in Sweden this year with another 170,000 following in 2016. (27) Germany, too, has become a home for many migrants with an estimated 42,000 people still living in tents even as winter draws closer. This has become a cause for great concern to officials in Germany. "Absolutely, we can manage this. But you can envision a worst case scenario where we have rioting over the winter. And that could shape the mood," said an official who remained anonymous. (28)
Much of the migration to Europe has been spurred by the ongoing civil war in Syria. As would be expected, most of these people are Muslims. Because of this fact, the Islamic population in Europe will rise exponentially in the coming days and has the potential to cause significant changes to the cultural landscape in that region of the world. In fact, the nation of Saudi Arabia has offered to construct two hundred mosques in Germany for the refugees who have arrived there. (29) Warnings have also surfaced which indicate that some of the migrants arriving in Europe are members of the terrorist group known as the Islamic State or ISIS, which has been wreaking havoc in Iraq and Syria. "You may have, let's say, two percent that are radicals. That is more than enough," stated Elias Bou Saab, the education minister in Lebanon. He further went on to say, "When the Lebanese army were kidnapped in Lebanon the people who kidnapped them came out of the camps. They kidnapped the soldiers and they took them to the mountains." (30) Here let it be noted that the Obama Administration plans to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees to come to the United States. Such an endeavor could prove to be dangerous, and American government officials have warned that there is no foolproof way to ensure that some of those refugees are not arriving with hostile intent. "The good news is that we are better at [vetting] than we were eight years ago. The bad news is that there is no risk-free process," said Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. He further went on to say, "We may have someone who is not on our radar and someone may choose to do something bad after they get here. We can only query against what we have collected, so if someone hasn't made a ripple in the pond, we can check our databases until the cows come home but we have no record of that person." (31) It has become clear that we live in a period of time that is fraught with danger on every side. We must continue to watch and pray.

More Foolishness From The Scientific Community!
In Psalm 14:1 we find the following declaration, "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God." Amazingly enough, scientists in recent days have performed a study which included experiments that were performed on individuals to see if their belief in God could be diminished. The experiments, which were performed by scientists from the University of York in the United Kingdom and the University of California in Los Angeles, involved the use of magnetic force aimed directly at the posterior medial frontal cortexes of their participants' brains. After performing the experiments, it was determined that belief in God among their participants was reduced by 32.8 percent. (32) One of the scientists responsible for the study described their procedures. "We wanted to find out whether a brain region that is linked with solving concrete problems, like deciding how to move one's body to overcome an obstacle, is also involved in solving abstract problems addressed by ideology. We decided to remind people of death because previous research has shown that people turn to religion for comfort in the face of death. As expected, we found that when we experimentally turned down the posterior medial frontal cortex, people were less inclined to reach for comforting religious ideas despite having been reminded of death," stated Dr. Keise Izuma of the University of York. (33) One can only wonder why scientists would be inspired to perform such experiments in the first place. I find it interesting that a procedure which intentionally disrupts a human brain's natural impulses, or in other words, causes temporary brain damage, can result in a loss of belief in God.
In closing, I urge every reader of this newsletter to keep your focus on God. In him we will find strength and a refuge from all the sin and wickedness in this world. For as we read in Psalm 62:5-8, "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah."
Thank you all for your generous support of this ministry. We appreciate your kindness and pray that God will bless you. If you have any prayer requests great or small, please do not hesitate to send them our way. Each prayer request we receive is always given individual attention, and our intercessors will carry your petitions before the throne of the Almighty. Grace and peace be unto you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paris attacks: where is all this global madness leading to?

Climate summit a 'powerful rebuke' to terrorists

President Obama declared Tuesday that next week’s climate change summit in Paris would be a “powerful rebuke” to terrorists, speaking alongside French President François Hollande at a joint news conference.
“Next week, I will be joining President Hollande and world leaders in Paris for the global climate conference,” Obama said during his prepared remarks, which focused mostly on the efforts to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
“What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be, when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children,” he added.
The two leaders met in Washington a week and a half after ISIS carried out multiple terrorist attacks in Paris, killing 130, and less than a week before Obama goes to the French capital to work with world leaders on an international pact to fight climate change.
Obama struck a similar tone Sunday at a news conference in Malaysia.
“I think it is absolutely vital for every country, every leader, to send a signal that the viciousness of a handful of killers does not stop the world from doing vital business, and that Paris ... is not going to be cowered by the violent, demented actions of a few,” Obama said about the upcoming climate conference.
Obama and other administration officials have been criticized for their insistence that climate change is a threat to national security on par with terrorism.
Obama and dozens of other international leaders will participate in an event at the conference Monday, but he will leave Tuesday, and the conference will continue until at least Dec. 11.
Hollande is scheduled to host Obama for dinner Monday night.
Hollande also said that holding the conference is a good sign in the fight against the Islamic State.
“I think there cannot be any better symbol or response but to hold the conference in Paris ... with some 150 heads of state and government,” Hollande said at the news conference.
France’s government has ramped up security for the conference in the wake of the attacks, including a ban on most activities related to the event, such as rallies and concerts.

The Prophetic Ideology of Isis - The terror group’s apocalyptic vision

Yahoo News

In a boastful press release after the Paris attacks that left 130 dead earlier in the month, ISIS celebrated its “victory” over the city it called the “lead carrier of the cross.”
“Allah granted victory upon their hands and cast terror into the hearts of the crusaders in their very own homeland,” the group wrote.

The medieval language is a glimpse into the terror group’s little-discussed apocalyptic ideology, one that draws on prophecies written after Muhammad’s death that were used to motivate Muslims to battle by caliphs who lived more than a thousand years ago. While al-Qaida occasionally hinted at these doomsday writings foretelling a grand battle with infidels at the end of the world, ISIS has made them the bedrock of its brand.

These prophecies are so entwined with ISIS’ identity that the group has pasted a line from one of them — “a Caliphate in Accordance with the Prophetic Method” — on the coins it has minted, on the badges soldiers wear and even on a billboard marking the beginning of ISIS territory. In that prophecy, Muhammad said that after a “tyrannical monarchy,” an Islamic caliphate would return. The formation of the caliphate would lead to a grand battle with the West that would bring along the end of the world.

The prophecies ISIS relies on were written dozens and sometimes hundreds of years after Muhammad’s death and are not included in the Quran, as Brookings scholar Will McCants explains in his book “The ISIS Apocalypse.” But the prophecies are widespread and believed by many — one poll in 2012 suggested half of Arabs believed the end of the world was nigh.

In ISIS’ interpretation, the figure of the Mahdi, or “the rightly guided one” will appear to lead final battles against the Western infidels, called Rome, in northern Syria before the end of days. After the day of judgment, only those who supported the Mahdi will be saved. The Mahdi will appear after the establishment of an Islamic caliphate. (Medieval caliphs, attempting to gin up support for their own battles against the Christian crusaders, claimed to be the Mahdi in the past.) In some of the prophecies, Jesus descends from the heavens to assist the Mahdi in his battle against the infidels, who are led by an Antichrist figure.

ISIS leadership has made key military decisions based upon these prophecies. It fought in the summer of 2014 to take over the small and militarily unimportant village of Dabiq close to Turkey because it is name-checked in one of the prophecies as a place where the final great battles will occur. The infidels are supposed to gather under “80 flags” in this village, before their defeat. (Dabiq is also the name of ISIS’ monthly magazine.)

ISIS’ claim that the apocalypse is nigh is a powerful recruitment tool, not unlike an “Act now! 24 hours only!” sales pitch.

“The belief that the end of the world is coming and you’re going to be fighting on the side of the good guys when the world ends is a powerful motivator,” McCants told Yahoo News. “Young people going to join [ISIS] believe they are participating in a apocalyptic prophecy.”

“The really interesting thing here from the psychological perspective is the sense of urgency, said John Horgan, a psychologist and terrorism expert at Georgia State University. “They’re sending the message that the forces of evil are about to reach their goals so you need to act now rather than later. You don’t have the luxury of waiting for this to happen.”

It’s unknown if the leadership of ISIS really believes in these prophecies or is simply using them to establish legitimacy in the eyes of their supporters. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has a Ph.D. in Quranic studies.

McCants tracked down examples of ISIS supporters and members trying to fit current events into the murky and sometimes conflicting timeline of the prophecies. “Thirty states remain to complete the number of eighty flags that will gather in Dabiq and begin the battle,” one jihadi Tweeted, seemingly waiting for more nations to sign on to fight ISIS before the last grand battle could occur and usher in the end of the world.

One can imagine ISIS leaders running into trouble if their apocalyptic vision takes too long and supporters begin asking questions and become impatient.

“Part of why ISIS is trying to goad the West into action is it’s a critical part of fulfilling their prophecies,” Horgan said.

The group has also refrained from explicitly calling its leader al-Baghdadi the Mahdi, which means its followers know they have to wait for him to appear before the world is ending. Sunni and Shiite beliefs about the Mahdi diverge in one key way: Sunni Islam, the branch of the religion ISIS adheres to, posits that the Mahdi, the prophet’s successor, has yet to come. According to the Shiite tradition, the Mahdi came but will remain hidden until he brings justice to the world.

That fighters believe they are fulfilling a grand destiny helps explain why thousands of them have been willing to leave more comfortable lives in nations all around the world to join the dangerous and reviled group. “It’s definitely more cultlike than al-Qaida,” said Karen Greenberg, the director of Fordham’s Center on National Security. “It’s got all the accouterments of a cult.”

Plants Cure Cancer, Not Chemicals

Plants Are The Cure For Cancer, Not Chemicals
Unbeknownst to most, a Copernican revolution has already taken place in cancer theory. Today, the weight of evidence indicates that plants and not chemicals are the solution for reversing the global cancer epidemic.
Our understanding of what causes cancer has undergone something akin to a Copernican revolution in the past decade. Biological fatalism has been the predominant force in medicine over the past half century, where most conditions including cancer were believed predestined 'in the genes,' and therefore impossible to reverse. Instead of looking for root cause resolution of disease (RCRD), we resigned ourselves to 'finding it early' and in the case of cancer, when doing so (even when it was benign), we waged war against it, quite literally using weapons grade materials (mustard gas- and nuclear materials-derived agents). Now, however, in this post-Genomic era, factors above (epi-) the control of the genes – epigenetic factors – are taking center stage; these include environmental exposures, stress, nutritional factors, and various lifestyle-based variables that are within the ambit of our control and volition, and which are often reversible.
In other words, cancer is now being understood as epigenetic dysfunction, a direct and even adaptive response to the post-industrial, carcinogen-saturated environment, in addition to a diet of faux, mostly chemically-produced 'food,' combining to produce an environment – 'inner terrain--  within the body ideal for cancer promotion.
Indeed, in a new study published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology titled, "The use of plant-derived bioactive compounds to target cancer stem cells and modulate tumor microenvironment," the authors note the powerful implications of this new epigenetic view of cancer:
"A fundamental aspect to be taken into account is that epigenetic changes can possibly be reversed by modifying epigenetic factors, such as diet and lifestyle. Nowadays, identification of these factors is crucial to develop epigenetically-based preventions and more effective anti-cancer intervention strategies."
Moreover, they note that natural interventions are once again (after countless millennia of worldwide use), at the cutting edge of medical intervention:
"Virtually, all dietary compounds have the ability to act at the epigenetic level in cancer cells thus influencing the epigenome in a positive or negative way. Particularly, plant derived compounds, such as polyphenols, have the capacity to reverse adverse epigenetic mutations in cancer cells, to inhibit tumorigenesis progression, to prevent the metastatic process or to sensitize cancer cells to chemo and radiotherapy (Vanden Berghe, 2012)."
The new study highlighted the following points, the implications for the future of cancer treatment are truly revolutionary:
  • Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are chemo-radiotherapy resistant, causing tumor relapse.
  • CSCs are known to reside within specific hypoxic and acidic tumor niches.
  • Phytocompounds affect CSC self-renewal, metabolism and microenvironment.
  • Phytocompounds might be exploited for cancer prevention and treatment.
As we have covered extensively in previous posts, the discovery of a subpopulation within tumors of cells known as cancer stem cells, reveals that our half-century old war on cancer, officially inaugurated in 1971 with Nixon's signing of the National Cancer Act, was extremely misguided. The notion that cancer is simply a byproduct of cells within the body going rogue due to DNA damage and replicating clonally through fundamentally chaotic – stochastic – processes, has been called into question by the discovery that tumors are actually sophisticated, hierarchically organized communities that express highly intelligent, survival-based behaviors, albeit evolutionary ancient in origin. The establishment views cancer as something 'you have or don't have,' and the equivalent of being infected by 'terrorist-like' cancer cells that must be treated as an enemy and obliterated by any means necessary. This treatment ensues regardless of the collateral damage to the patient. The emerging and far more nuanced cancer stem-cell based perspective, precipitated primarily by epigenetic factors – e.g. chemical exposure, dietary incompatibilities, metabolic acidosis and low oxygen (hypoxia) – offers a far more promising and empowering view of prevention and treatment.
