The Truth will triumph

The angel . . . sware by him that liveth for ever . . . that there should be time no longer. Revelation 10:5, 6.

The message of Revelation 14, proclaiming that the hour of God's judgment is come, is given in the time of the end; and the angel of Revelation 10 is represented as having one foot on the sea and one foot on the land, showing that the message will be carried to distant lands, the ocean will be crossed, and the islands of the sea will hear the proclamation of the last message of warning. . . .

"And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer" (Revelation 10:5, 6). This message announces the end of the prophetic periods. The disappointment of those who expected to see our Lord in 1844 was indeed bitter to those who had so ardently looked for His appearing. It was in the Lord's order that this disappointment should come. . . .

Not one cloud has fallen upon the church that God has not prepared for; not one opposing force has risen to counterwork the work of God but He has foreseen. All has taken place as He has predicted through His prophets. He has not left His church in darkness, forsaken, but has traced in prophetic declarations what would occur, and through His providence, acting in its appointed place in the world's history, He has brought about that which His Holy Spirit inspired the prophets to foretell. All His purposes will be fulfilled and established. His law is linked with His throne, and satanic agencies combined with human agencies cannot destroy it. Truth is inspired and guarded by God; it will live, and will succeed, although it may appear at times to be overshadowed. The gospel of Christ is the law exemplified in character. The deceptions practiced against it, every device for vindicating falsehood, every error forged by satanic agencies, will eventually be eternally broken, and the triumph of truth will be like the appearing of the sun at noonday. The Sun of Righteousness shall shine forth with healing in His wings, and the whole earth shall be filled with His glory.  Maranatha p. 18

Evolution Continues to Be a Theory in Crisis

Ann Gauger January 27, 2016 3:40 AM |

Michael Denton has written a sequel to his groundbreaking book, published in 1985, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis. As readers of Evolution News know, the new book is Evolution: Still A Theory in Crisis. The thing to note, first of all, is that the new title is correct.
ETSC square.jpegEven after thirty years. The problems Denton outlined more than thirty years ago are still there. The main argument of Denton's book, that nature is discontinuous and not the product of gradual incremental change, is as true today as it was then, despite the predictions of scientists that new discoveries in developmental biology would come to the rescue.
Denton's thesis has history behind it. It comes from a long line of structuralist biologists. In fact, before Darwin, nearly every mainstream biologist held a structuralist point of view -- as opposed to an adaptationalist one -- and for many years after Darwin the idea of structuralism persisted as an acceptable view.
What do I mean by those two terms, structuralist and adaptationalist? Structuralists hold that the order and pattern of living things is due to underlying "laws of biological form" -- fundamental constraints or causal factors that arise out of the universal physical properties of matter. The laws of form created by the innate properties of matter are so universal, in fact, that if the tape of evolution were to be replayed, the same basic forms would result, leading ultimately to a creature like man, according to Denton. Structuralists are accepting of evolution, in the sense of change over time, and can also accept common descent, as long as there is a law of form capable of making the jump from one higher taxon to another. What they dispute is that evolution occurred by adaptation, or random mutation and selection, which is the view held by adaptationalists.
The evidence that convinced pre-Darwinian biologists and convinces modern day scientists like Denton is three-fold. First, the pattern of life is discontinuous. Organisms can be grouped according to their defining characteristics, with groups like classes and phyla having no fossil intermediates. There is no partly limbed fish, with half-formed feet (see the book for a thorough discussion of this -- I know some of you are thinking, "But Tiktaalik!"), no hairy reptile, and no partly placental marsupial.
Below is a diagram taken from Denton's book that illustrates this principle. The lineage leading to primates is indicated with the traits that distinguish each higher group drawn as bars across the branching tree. (Each group tends to have a suite of characters that define it. These traits appear suddenly in the fossil record. Only one trait is shown here.)
In addition, higher taxa have distinguishing features, which have the same underlying pattern that serve no adaptive purpose, called the Types. The chief example of a Type is the tetrapod limb -- the limb shared by all four-legged animals. All the limbs are based on a plan with one bone, then two bones, then five fingers. This accounts for everything from a bat's wing to a whale's flippers to a mole's digging paws. There is no functional reason why the basic plan should be structured that way -- there are other ways to build limbs.
Ironically, this is the same observation used by Darwin and in most (if not all) biology textbooks to this day. That the limb could be adapted to so many forms yet still retain its original pattern was seen as evidence both for the power of adaptation and for common descent.
Here is Denton's argument in response:
[T]his explanation leads to further problems. If the homolog was "fluid" during the transition, why and how did it become fixed when the pentadactyl pattern finally emerged? Why should the canonical form have any special significance? What adaptive forces fixed a previously fluid pattern at a particular moment in evolutionary time? If adaptation can change one structure, the fin, why not its successor, the limb? The fixation of the pattern underlying all the adaptive modifications in diverse lines over the next 400 million years is all the more curious considering that the adaptive forms based upon the Bauplan [building plan] did indeed change. What isolated the Bauplan -- the one, two, five, pattern -- from its adaptive masks [variations in functional form], imposing absolute invariance against any evolutionary change, while permitting vast evolutionary change in all the derived forms? Self-evidently the initial fixation cannot be explained plausibly in Darwinian terms.
The second reason for holding this view is the inability of neo-Darwinian theory to account for anything other than small-scale change. Extrapolation from microevolution to macroevolution cannot be observed and is merely a hypothesis. In Denton's first book this was one of his main points. The gaps in macroevolutionary history are real because Darwinism is powerless to explain them.
Third, there are examples now known of biological structures or properties that arise from purely physical characteristics and their interactions. A prime example of this is the lipid bilayer that forms the cell's membrane. Lipids spontaneously assemble into small vesicles. Structuralists like Denton believe that universal physical laws can ultimately account for all the "laws of form" seen in living things today. Denton goes so far as to say:
I believe [the Types were actualized by perfectly natural processes] and that the entire pattern of evolution was prefigured into the order of things from the beginning. Although I think the evidence is consistent with most of the novelties being achieved in a relatively saltational manner [by jumps in form], as I cautioned in the Introduction, typology does not demand absolute saltation, just that the Types or more properly the homologs which define them, are a special set of robust natural forms or stable material systems, part of nature's order from the moment of creation, to which the paths of evolution were inevitably drawn.
Structuralism, though out of fashion now, has been held by many distinguished biologists. As Denton says in a 2013 paper in BIO-Complexity on the subject:
Leading 20th-century structuralists include the inventor of the term "genetics," William Bateson, D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson, author of the classic structuralist work On Growth and Form, Rupert Riedl, Stuart Kauffman, Brian Goodman, and Stuart Newman.
It was also acknowledged by the late Stephen J. Gould as a view worthy of respect. Once again, from Denton's paper:
Although Gould was, as he himself confesses, a convinced pan-selectionist in his early years, he was increasingly sympathetic to structuralism in his later years. In The Structure of Evolutionary Theory he writes: "I don't see how anyone could read, from Goethe and Geoffroy down through Severtzov, Remane and Riedl, without developing some appreciation for the plausibility, or at least the sheer intellectual power, of morphological explanations outside the domain of Darwinian functionalism [adaptationalism]."
I have gone on long enough and have only begun to indicate the sophistication of Denton's one long argument. There are many more examples of emergent behavior and saltation than I have given here. Therefore I invite you to engage the book and its arguments for yourself, especially if you are an adaptationalist unaware of the argument for structuralism.      Evolution News

Ancient Babylonian astronomers used Advanced Technology to find Jupiter 1,400 years before Europeans

The earliest known examples of mathematical and geometric astronomy have been identified in a series of ancient Babylonian cuneiform tablets.
An analysis of the tablets, reported in the journal Science, reveals ancient Babylonians were able to calculate the position of Jupiter using geometric techniques previously believed to have been first used some 1,400 years later in 14th century Europe.
"These texts are the earliest evidence we have from antiquity of mathematical astronomy," said the study's author Dr Mathieu Ossendrijver, a historian on Babylonian astronomy with the Humboldt University in Berlin.
"It describes Jupiter's velocity across the sky and how that changes with time."
The tablets, which are housed at the British Museum, are believed to have been unearthed from an archaeological dig in what is now modern day Iraq sometime in the 1800s.
The almost completely intact tablets are thought to have been written in Babylon between 350 and 50 BCE.
The tablets are part of a larger collection of 450 astronomy tablets from Babylon and Uruk containing celestial data arranged in rows and columns, together with instructions.
Dr Ossendrijver examined five tablets numbered as trapezoid text A to trapezoid text E, four of which deal with geometrical trapezoid shapes, but nobody understood what they were about.

One tablet key to puzzle

However, one of the tablets — trapezoid text A — provided Dr Ossendrijver with the key to understanding the other four tablets.
This is highly surprising. No-one expected to find something like this in antiquity.
Dr Mathieu Ossendrijver
"I discovered that they describe the motion of Jupiter as a velocity, the number of degrees it moves across the sky in a day," Dr Ossendrijver said.
"If you plot the velocity of Jupiter against time, you get a creeping curve which looks like a rectangle with a slanted top — that's the trapezoid."
The tablets show two intervals from when Jupiter first appears along the horizon at night, to the planet's position in the sky after 60 and 120 days.
The tablets also computed the time when Jupiter covers half of this 60-day distance by partitioning the trapezoid into two smaller ones of equal area.
"We're not really sure why the Babylonians were so interested in the motion of the planet Jupiter, but one possible explanation is that Jupiter was associated with Marduk the supreme god of Babylon," Dr Ossendrijver said.
"These astronomers or priests were employed by Babylon's main temple where Marduk was venerated. Each god had a star and Marduk's was Jupiter."
Babylonian writing is thought to have originally developed as an accounting system for keeping track of property such as sheep, grain, or the size of a field.
"That's what most of the cuneiform tablets we have from Mesopotamia deal with," Dr Ossendrijver said.
"But by about 2000 BCE they began to develop a form of mathematics with sophisticated field computations and methods for solving what we call quadratic equations that go beyond these practical things. It's a way of describing and computing motion, similar to what we today call integral calculus."

Tablets redefine history

These tablets redefine our history books as the origins of calculus are generally traced back to the Middle Ages when people began using geometry to calculate velocity by plotting the position of an object against time.
"This is highly surprising. No-one expected to find something like this in antiquity," Dr Ossendrijver said.
"While ancient Greeks used geometrical figures to describe configurations in physical space, centuries earlier these Babylonian tablets used geometry in an abstract sense to define time and velocity."       abc.au

Iran and Rome take giant step to boost ties

TEHRAN - President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that Iran and Italy are determined to broaden cooperation in all fields of “mutual interests”, the presidential website reported.

The remarks by Rouhani came after Iran and Italy signed multi-billion dollar contracts covering various sectors including health, transportation, agriculture and energy.

The contracts, worth up to 17 billion euros (18.4 billion dollars), were signed in a ceremony attended by Rouhani and his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella, according to Press TV.

“As a new chapter of cooperation has started in Tehran-Rome ties, energy, new technologies, industry, mining, agriculture and culture can be the fields in which Iran and Italy can expand their cooperation,” Rouhani said in a joint press conference on Monday evening with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Rouhani expressed Iran’s readiness to invite investments and new technologies and start cooperation for production and export of joint productions, according to the Iranian presidential website.

Describing ties as historical, he added, “As Italy was once Iran’s first trade partner among European Union countries, we are sure that in the new chapter, the two countries’ cooperation can be further developed.”

Referring to the necessity of starting joint investment in a number fields of mutual interests, the president said, “Iran’s special strategic location in the region as the linking point between countries of central Asia, Caucuses and Indian sub-continent implies that it can play the role of a hub for the two countries’ exports.”

Also indicating a more active participation of the two countries’ private sectors for investment, Rouhani stated, “The governments of Iran and Italy will do their utmost to support private sectors in this regard.”

On the regional peace and security, he said, “The achievements of the visit to Italy go beyond bilateral significance and can contribute to world peace, security and stability which are the two countries’ main ideals to be met in the region and over the world for the benefit of all.”

Noting that Iran has always been a “pioneer in combating terrorism”, Rouhani said, “As Iran and Italy once started a joint cooperation for establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, they can definitely continue the cooperation for peace and stability in the region, as well.”

Iran and Italy are eager to witness security in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya as they are ready to help peace in the region and the larger world and this entails “cultural, political and intelligence cooperation”, he remarked.

The visit to Rome by Rouhani and his accompanying delegation took place immediately after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the JCPOA), commonly called nuclear deal, went into force.

“As the JCPOA well proved that diplomacy is the best solution for issues and establishing a sustainable peace, why should we not believe JCPOA can also be an exemplary model for settling the regional and international issues, especially those issues in the Middle East and North Africa,” Rouhani noted.

For his part, the Italian premier said, “Tehran and Rome enjoy historical relations that have resulted in the friendship of the Iranian and Italian nations.”

Renzi described the JCPOA as a starting point for expansion of the two countries’ mutual ties and an example to be followed for the settlement of regional and international issue as well.

“The JCPOA well proved that as Iran and the world powers could agree on the JCPOA, they can also agree on all other regional issues,” the prime minister noted.

Emphasizing Iran’s important role in regional interactions, the Italian prime minister said, “Iran can also play a vital and effective role in achieving peace and democracy in the region and tackling terrorism in the region and over the world.”

“Italy is serious in strengthening relations with Iran in all areas of mutual interests.”

----- Rouhani says economic growth crucial to defeating extremism

Generating economic growth in the Middle East is crucial to defeating extremism, Rouhani said, putting forward his country as a regional trade hub and pillar of stability, according to Reuters.

Rouhani described establishing, expanding and safeguarding peace in the region and over the world as Iran’s principal policy. “Iran has always been for a peaceful coexistence with all neighboring countries and still believe that the only mechanism to settle regional crisis is not merely a military one, but negotiations.”

He also invited the Italian prime minister to pay a visit to Iran.

Appreciating Rouhani for his invitation, Renzi promised to pay visit to Iran in near future.     Tehran Times

Cheese triggers the same part of the brain as hard drugs, say scientists

If you regularly find yourself hovering around the cheese board at the Christmas dinner table, helping yourself to seconds or thirds, there may be a scientific explanation as to why you’re unable to tear yourself away.
Researchers from the University of Michigan have revealed that cheese contains a chemical found in addictive drugs.
Using the Yale Food Addiction Scale, designed to measure a person’s cravings, the study found that cheese is particularly moreish because it contains casein.
The chemical, which is found in all dairy products, can trigger the brain’s opioid receptors, producing a feeling of euphoria linked to those of hard drug addiction.

500 students were asked to complete a questionnaire to identify food cravings, as part of the study, with pizza topping the list as the most addictive food of all.
In addition, they found that the top-ranking foods on the addiction scale were those containing cheese.
Scientists studying dairy products found that in milk, casein has a minuscule dosage. But producing a pound of cheese requires about 10 pounds of milk — with addictive casein coagulating the solid milk fats and separating them from the liquids.
As a result the super-strength chemical becomes concentrated when in solid dairy form, so you’ll get a higher hit of addictive casein by tucking into a cheese sandwich than you will in your morning bowl of cereal.

Study author Erica Schulte said: "If properties of some foods are associated with addictive eating for some people, this may impact nutrition guidelines, as well as public policy initiatives such as marketing these foods to children."
Nicole Avena, a co-author on the study, said: "This is a first step towards identifying specific foods, and properties of foods, which can trigger this addictive response.
"This could help change the way we approach obesity treatment. It may not be a simple matter of 'cutting back' on certain foods, but rather, adopting methods used to curtail smoking, drinking and drug use."
The news comes after it was revealed that the average person is estimated to eat around 35 pounds of cheese a year - suggesting that it really as addictive as research claims.

The mesmerizing gospel of the celebrity pastors

Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford interview 'Rich in Faith' stars Rich and DawnChere Wilkerson.
Over the past few years I have noticed a disturbing trend with so-called "celebrity pastors" – the trend actually isn't related to them, but rather the hatred that is thrown towards them on a regular basis.
Whether it's Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Carl Lentz, or Rich Wilkerson Jr., there always seem to be certain pastors that garner more attention and notoriety than others. While I don't agree whole heartedly with each of these pastors' doctrine, preaching style or opinions, I do think that they each of them have the capability to bring people to Christ.
Additionally, I do not believe that they deserve to be demonized simply because they have been labeled as popular, cool, modern, hip or famous. Instead, I believe they deserve our support, because they are reaching people that no one else can.
People like to condemn these pastors and others like them for their celebrity status when in reality being a celebrity isn't exactly something you can control. It isn't like they all woke up one day and said, "I think I'll become a famous celebrity pastor." Becoming famous should never be the goal of a pastor, but if it occurs while trying to reach people that generally means you will reach even more people.
I believe that many people who are against these kinds of pastors fail to realize that Jesus also dealt with an unwanted celebrity status as he traveled to preach the Good News (Mark 1:28).
While Jesus didn't desire fame or notoriety, He didn't reject the crowds. Instead, He used it as an opportunity to reach more people. He often preached where crowds of thousands would gather (Luke 12:1John 6:2).     More..

Note:
Are these celebrity preachers presenting the real Jesus of the bible that loves the sinner but hates sin, that  is an equal entity of grace measure to an equal entity of justice,  that walked 2000 years ago on this planet, that rejected tradition and put the word of God above any tradition, that would touch the leper, or just another Jesus? An experiential Jesus? A Jesus based on feelings and not on the word of God? A Jesus based on emotions and not on principles? Martin Luther said regarding the Jews: “if they could reject the one that healed the sick, that comforted the broken hearted, that raised the dead, what kind of God must they have; I hate to know what kind of God they had.” Are we going to do the same? Are we going to fail to recognize the real Jesus of the bible just as the Jews did and nail the Lord to the cross and reject his mercy and truth?  We need a heart felt religion. We need a real experience with the Lord, not a plastic one.

2 Corinthians 11:4 says: For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

A group of Lutherans have received Holy Communion at the Vatican after meeting Pope Francis, according to reports coming out of Rome.

A group of Lutherans have received Holy Communion at the Vatican after meeting Pope Francis, according to reports coming out of Rome.
The Lutherans from Finland, led by Bishop Samuel Salmi of Oulu, indicated by the traditional method of crossing their arms over their chests that they should not be offered the sacrament at Mass in the Basilica. But the priests went ahead and gave it to them regardless, Edward Pentin in Rome reported for NCRegister.
A youth choir from Finland also sang at the Mass.
The report first emerged via the Finnish Finnish news agency Kotimaa, in Estonian.
"Catholics shared the Eucharist. I also got to be part of it," said Bishop Salmi, who made it clear the Catholic priests had known who the Lutherans were so they had not been invited to partake by mistake. He also spoke of the Pope's opponents who oppose any move towards relaxing the rules on who can receive Communion.
Bishop Salmi has previously challenged Catholic tradition. In 2011 he argued for gay people to have "full rights" in the Lutheran Church.
The Mass took place during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, being celebrated this week by churches around the world. In his address at his weekly audience, Pope Francis referred to these celebrations and said: "This Week of Prayer invites us to reflect on, and bear witness to, our unity in Christ as God's People. All the baptised, reborn to new life in Christ, are brothers and sisters, despite our divisions. Through Baptism we have been charged, as Saint Peter tells us, 'to proclaim the mighty works of the one who has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light.' During this Week of Prayer, let us ask the Lord to help all Christians to grow in that unity which is greater than what divides us. Together, may we respond to his call to share with others, especially with the poor and forgotten of our world, the gift of divine mercy which we ourselves have received."
The Pope said last year a Lutheran woman married to a Catholic should "talk to the Lord" before receiving Holy Communion. Cardinal Gerhard Müller, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, later countered suggestions that this meant the Pope approved of intercommunion with Lutherans.
Under Canon 844 of the Catholic Church's Code of Canon Law, the Eucharist is to be given to Catholics in a state of grace. Non-Catholics who request Communion and are from Churches approved by the Catholic Church as holding the same faith on the Eucharist, such as the Orthodox, are allowed to receive. Lutherans, along with members of the Church of England and wider Anglican Communion, are not in this group because they do not as a Church believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
In 2003, the then-Prime Minister Tony Blair, at the time a member of the Church of England, received Communion from Pope John Paul II in Rome. Also in 2003, Pope John Paul II said in his encyclical Ecclesia De Eucharistia: "While it is never legitimate to concelebrate in the absence of full Communion, the same is not true with respect to the administration of the Eucharist under special circumstances, to individual persons belonging to Churches or Ecclesial Communities not in full communion with the Catholic Church. In this case, in fact, the intention is to meet a grave spiritual need for the eternal salvation of an individual believer, not to bring about an intercommunion which remains impossible until the visible bonds of ecclesial communion are fully re-established."
After leaving Downing Street, Blair converted to Catholicism, uniting the family in one Church. His wife Cherie is a cradle Catholic and their children have been raised Catholic.     CT

The Pope called modern forms of communication "a gift of God"

Pope Francis had a meeting Friday with Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Neither party has disclosed what was discussed, but afterward, the Pope spoke about technology and social media, calling modern forms of communicating “a gift of God,” according to Reuters. Pope Francis, 79, delivered the message for the Roman Catholic Church’s World Day of Communications.
“Emails, text messages, social networks and chats can also be fully human forms of communication,” he said. “It is not technology which determines whether or not communication is authentic, but rather the human heart and our capacity to use wisely the means at our disposal.”
The Pope is admittedly a “disaster” when it comes to technology, but this is his second meeting in a week with a tech industry heavyweight—he sat down with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt last week. Cook—or “Signor Timothy Donald Cook, Amministratore Delegato di Apple”—met with the Pope in Rome, according to the Pontiff’s daily schedule posted to Twitter.
There is no word on whether Pope Francis was able to get the two tech giants to lay down their arms and comes to terms over competing mobile phone platforms.     Time

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is trying to fast track a “WAR POWERS” bill that will give President Obama some really SCARY powers. WHY is Mitch doing this on a Friday during the worst storm in D.C. ever!
razor-wire-gitmo
“The Authorization for Use of Military Force put forward by McConnell would not restrict the president’s use of ground troops, nor have any limits related to time or geography,” Defense One reported.
In other words, the authorization allows the president to deploy the military anywhere at his discretion – both foreign and domestic – for as long as he wants.
Several senators, including Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, were surprised by McDonnell’s decision to fast-track the bill after a year of deep in-fighting over similar measures in the Senate.
“He did?” he asked the National Journal on Thursday morning when reporters informed him about the bill.
Even some Senate Democrats have an issue with a new authorization without geographical restrictions placed on the president.
“I’m for the Congress voting on an AUMF; of course it depends what the AUMF looks like,” Sen. Robert Menendez said Thursday. “I don’t want a blank check.”
NO President should have this power, McConnell and his cronies really scare me that they want to give the power to Obama. The fact that no one is watching scares me even more!    Rightwingnews

Pope Francis to join Google's Eric Schmidt in rare tech industry meeting

Eric Schmidt is to meet Pope Francis, a source close to the Vatican has confirmed.

Pope Francis once described the internet as a “gift from God”. But on Friday he is due to meet with someone who may believe the internet has more to do with his own company than divine intervention: Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google.
The pope, who more than a billion Catholics believe is God’s representative on Earth, will meet with the powerful Silicon Valley executive and philanthropist for 15 minutes at the Vatican in Rome.
A source close to the Vatican, who was familiar with the details of the meeting but not authorised to speak on the record, confirmed the brief meeting would take place on Friday. Another source familiar with the meeting said Schmidt was due to meet with the pope privately along with Jared Cohen, a former US state department official who is now head of Google Ideas. Schmidt co-wrote a book with Cohen in 2013 called The New Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People, Nations and Business.
Google declined to respond to several requests for comment over the past 24 hours about the meeting. The planned encounter was first mooted in a barely noticed tweet two days ago by a man named Iacopo Scaramuzzi, who has been described on Twitter as a Vaticanista, or Vatican expert.
Pope Francis has admitted to not having a computer, but the 79-year-old is clearly not naive when it comes to the power of technology. The internet, he once said, is a “gift from God” because of its ability to offer “immense possibilities for encounter and solidarity”.
“This is something truly good,” he said in a seminal speech on technology in 2014, noting the importance of social media in what he has often referred to as the power of the “encounter”.
“In a world like this, media can help us to feel closer to one another, creating a sense of the unity of the human family which can in turn inspire solidarity and serious efforts to ensure a more dignified life for all,” he said.
He was the first pope to take his message regularly to Twitter, and the @pontifex account, first opened by Pope Benedict, now has 8.4 million followers. He’s hosted two Google Hangouts live from the Vatican.
An ardent critic of capitalism and inequality, the pope is not known to have met often with American business figures. During his visit to the US last year, he did not visit Silicon Valley or the Bay Area, which is fast emerging as one of the most unequal regions in America.
“On the global level we see a scandalous gap between the opulence of the wealthy and the utter destitution of the poor,” he said in the lengthy address on technology. “We should not overlook the fact that those who for whatever reason lack access to social media run the risk of being left behind.”
Schmidt, whose net worth is an estimated $10.6bn, is the executive chairman and in effect the global ambassador of Alphabet – the newly formed conglomerate which includes Google. He’s been politically active with liberal causes, donated to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and is a member of the White House’s council of advisors on science and technology.
Alphabet – a holding company created in October to hold Google, YouTube, Android and others – is worth about $500bn, making it one of the largest public companies in the world. The two share one common passion: environmentalism and the importance of sustainability.     TheGuardian

Fox's Tv show portrays satan as a 'good guy'

Image result for lucifer on fox
If late radio legend Paul Harvey were around to update his famous commentary “If I were the Devil,” he might include on his demonic to-do list, “portray Satan as a nice fellow.” Because this is precisely what the Fox network is doing in its new series Lucifer, set to premiere January 25.
Starring actor Tom Ellis as Lucifer, reviewer Valerie David writes that he is a “Brit-accented rogue helping humans while being harassed by angels” and that the show is “redemption for the Devil.” Deadline.com presents the storyline, reporting, “The series follow the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to LA, where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things — wine, women and song — when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux.” One thing leads to another, and Lucifer ends up helping the police solve crimes and working on the side of justice.
Not surprisingly, the show has inspired protests. The organization One Million Moms launched a petition urging Fox to scuttle the series, writing that it glorifies “Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh.” And Natural News’ Ethan A. Huff minced no words, telling us, “The Lucifer character will be offered up to the masses who watch Fox as a likable character with moral and ethical convictions, fulfilling the biblical account of this insidious demonic entity.... It's only fitting, then, that this modern-day show produced by satanists [sic] would portray Lucifer as a type of benevolent god, since this was always his goal — to take the place of the real God. Whether you believe what the Bible says or not, this is the clear-as-day implication of this upcoming show that will soon be watched by presumably millions of people.”
Of course, French poet Charles Baudelaire once wrote "The devil's finest trick is to persuade you that he does not exist,” and many today scoff at the idea of Satan as real supernatural being. Even so, note that our culture considers the Devil symbolic of pure evil. As such, perspective is gained by analogizing this matter to something else symbolizing evil in our time: the Nazis.
Imagine a series portraying a “good Nazi” — with a character sporting the typical uniform and a Swastika — and billed as a story of “redemption for the Nazis”? Would we consider this innocuous entertainment or a blurring of the line between good and evil?
And that’s the point. While it seems unlikely that Lucifer’s producers actually are “Satanists,” they assuredly are moral relativists. And such a mindset suffices for evil’s embrace. Apropos to this, an old cartoon in what, if my recollection is accurate, was New Yorker magazine showed the Devil addressing a group of people in Hell and saying (I’m paraphrasing), “There’s no right or wrong down here. It’s whatever works for you.”
Topside in our temporal world, we hear similar messages such as “If it feels good, do it”; occultist Aleister Crowley’s maxim “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law”; and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s utterance in Return of the Jedi, “Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.” British philosopher Edmund Burke warned that evil would triumph if good men did nothing. But why would we do anything (positive, anyway) if we consider good and evil mere social constructs, changing with “point of view”? And even if we had some vague sense that “ungood” exists, how could we know what to fight for and fight against with good and evil having been so conflated? Why, had Luke Skywalker truly taken Obi-Wan’s relativistic counsel to heart, he might have killed Han Solo and then become Emperor Palpatine’s PR man.
Yet black and white blended to gray is the norm today. Consider, for instance, the CBS program Angel from Hell, which One Million Moms (OMM) tells us is “about a ‘not so good’ guardian angel” and contains “blasphemous content including crude humor, foul language and distasteful dialogue.” In addition it shows the “angel” using profanity in front of children and “then joking that she never promised to be G-rated. The premiere also included the angel hiding liquor in the children's clothes and saying, 'My booze!' followed by a little boy saying, ‘That's so cool!’" writes OMM.
Or just contrast the original film Cape Fear (1962) with its remake (1991). About a lawyer targeted by a violent criminal he once sent to prison, the original portrays the attorney (Gregory Peck) as a truly virtuous man in the crosshairs of a wicked and distasteful miscreant, well played by Robert Mitchum. In the new version, however, the lawyer (Nick Nolte) is, frankly, a dirtbag. Cheating on his wife, he has a tumultuous, unappealing family life and is generally a weak man, the father every boy neither respects nor wants. In contrast, the criminal (Robert De Niro) is larger than life: He’s clever, smart, and exhibits superhuman mental strength, not even blinking at excruciating pain. In other words, the movie portrays no hero. And presented with a pathetic weak man and a powerful, cool super-villain, whom would teen boys be more likely to emulate? Hey, remember, you can’t really be “good,” anyway, because “good” is a social construct, just a “point of view.” But “power”? That’s certainly real — and alluring.
This is precisely the opposite of the moral training youths received for millennia and is frighteningly dangerous. It was always heroes who were imbued with superhuman qualities, including superhuman virtue (insofar as the civilization in question understood it), an example of such being Lucas McCain of the old show The Rifleman. And in presenting a strong, admirable character whom every boy would want to be and who was the embodiment of virtue, children would develop an “erotic [emotional] attachment” to virtue, as Plato put it, long before they were capable of understanding its moral components in their abstract form.
Today we’ve turned this on its head. By eliminating virtuous characters and portraying strong, manly ones who are the embodiment of vice, we inculcate an erotic attachment to evil. And “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree” — erotic attachments formed early usually last for life.
One thing Lucifer’s producers did get right is their casting of the main character as “hot as Hell,” as they put it, for the Bible tells us Lucifer is “perfect in beauty.” And therein lies a lesson for all: Beware those who would seduce with beauty, power, money, eloquence, sex — and all the other things that make for great Hollywood fare.       Thenewamerican

Microsoft Windows 10 is spying on you

Windows 10 Spying Confirmed: Microsoft Tracking Activities, Collecting Data On Windows 10 Devices
Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 10, is loved by Windows users. This being the fact, there has always been speculations about Windows 10 being not as good as it seems. Why? Because of speculations that Microsoft must be spying on Windows 10 users and collecting data through Windows 10 devices.
Ever since the OS has been out, Microsoft gives away figures every other day to prove how much people love Windows 10. When the figures were all about installation of Windows 10 on devices (on desktops, laptops, Xbox One or Lumia phones), things were fine. But what if I tell you Microsoft is tracking your activities and collecting personal data as well? Giving out latest details to prove how successful their OS is, Microsoft has indirectly confirmed the spying.
Yusuf Mehdi, Senior Vice President of Microsoft, recently said, “One of the ways we measure our progress with Windows 10 is looking at how people are using Windows. Recently we reached another milestone – people have spent over 11 billion hours on Windows 10 in December alone, spending more time on Windows than ever before.” Without realizing that he is confirming speculations that can go against Windows 10 and its devices, he further said, “Here are a few fun facts on what people have been doing on Windows 10” Let us have a look at the FUN FACTS, so that we know if there really is fun for us in store:
  1. In the month of December 2015, 44.5 billion minutes and more were reportedly spent in Microsoft Edge.
  2. Cortana was asked over 2.5 billion questions since the launch.
  3. Xbox One: Over 6.6 million hours of games were streamed.
  4. In the Windows 10 Photo App, over 82 billion photos were viewed.
  5. In 2015, gamers played PC games on Windows 10 devices for over 4 billion hours.
So, Microsoft is not only keeping itself updated about the installation of Windows 10 on different devices, but is also tracking every single activity of its users. Asking Cortana a question? Microsoft tracks it. Playing a game? Microsoft tracks it, too. Is this the dirty side of the free Windows 10 upgrade that everyone talks about? Is this all? Or with time, will more shocking stats and news be put forth?       Morningnewsusa

President Barack Obama Carries a Rosary Along with Other Items in His Pocket All The Time

The Rosary Obama received from Pope Francis
Obama showed the items during an interview with YouTube personality Ingrid Nilsen, today at the White House, saying they were given to him by people he has met during his political career.
“I carry these around all the time,.” he said. “I’m not that superstitious so it’s not like I think necessarily I have to have them on me at all times,” he explained. ”But it does remind me of all the different people that I’ve met along the way and how much they’ve invested in me.”
He showed Nilsen a rosary he received from Pope Francis, saying that he “admired” the pontiffHe explained that he enjoyed carrying the rosary because it helped him “think about peace and promoting understanding and ethical behavior.”     Breitbart

The Catholic takeover of the U.S. is almost complete

David Gibson December 19, 2012 - 9:31am

At MOJ, Michael Moreland notes:
Upon the passing of Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii (a war hero from WWII, leaving Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey the sole remaining WWII veteran in Congress), Senator Pat Leahy of Vermont becomes the President pro tempore of the Senate and, I believe, the first Catholic to hold the position. Indeed, if Senator John Kerry is nominated and confirmed to be Secretary of State, the four offices in line of succession to the presidency will all be held by Catholics: Vice President Joe Biden, House Speaker John Boehner, Senator Leahy, and Secretary Kerry.
UPDATE: My original post had a "slight correction" to Moreland's post, noting that Sen. Allan J. Ellender (d. 1972) of Louisiana was actually the first Catholic president pro tempore of the Senate. But Michael has done real research, and adds:
Ellender was baptized a Catholic but later listed himself as a Presbyterian and belonged to no church in his adult life. See Thomas Becnel, Senator Allen Ellender of Louisiana: A Biography (LSU Press, 1995), 149-50. But I take the modification to my earlier post.
Still, with six Catholics on the Supreme Court, Charles C. Marshall must be rolling in his grave. And the poor U.S. bishops -- they say Catholics haven't had it this bad since the persecutions of Diocletian. That could be a tougher sell now than it was in November.        CommonWeal

In first prayer video, Pope stresses interfaith unity: 'We are all children of God'

.- The Pope’s first-ever video message on his monthly prayer intentions was released Tuesday, highlighting the importance of interreligious dialogue and the beliefs different faith traditions hold in common, such as the figure of God and love.
“Many think differently, feel differently, seeking God or meeting God in different ways. In this crowd, in this range of religions, there is only one certainty that we have for all: we are all children of God,” Pope Francis said in his message, released Jan. 6, the feast of the Epiphany.
At the beginning of the video, a minute-and-a-half long, the Pope cites the fact that the majority of the earth’s inhabitants profess some sort of religious belief.
This, he said, “should lead to a dialogue among religions. We should not stop praying for it and collaborating with those who think differently.”
The video goes on to feature representatives of Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism, who proclaim their respective beliefs in God, Jesus Christ, Allah and Buddha.
Later on, after the Pope affirms that all, regardless of their religious profession, are children of God, the faith leaders state their common belief in love.
Pope Francis closes the video by expressing his hope that viewers “will spread my prayer request this month: that sincere dialogue among men and women of different faiths may produce fruits of peace and justice. I have confidence in your prayers.”
An initiative of the Jesuit-run global prayer network Apostleship of Prayer, the video was filmed in collaboration with the Vatican Television Center (CTV) and marks the first time the Pope’s monthly prayer intentions have been featured on video.
The Apostleship of Prayer was founded by Jesuit seminarians in France in 1884 to encourage Christians to serve God and others through prayer, particularly for the needs of the Church. Since the late 1800s the organization has also received a monthly intention from the Pope. In 1929 an additional, missionary intention was added by the Holy Father, aimed at the faithful in particular.
Referred to on the organizations’ website as the Pope’s “universal” and “evangelization” intentions, this month’s prayer requests focus on Francis’ desire for Interreligious Dialogue and Christian Unity.
Francis offers his universal petition so that “sincere dialogue among men and women of different faiths may produce the fruits of peace and justice,” and expresses his evangelistic prayer that “by means of dialogue and fraternal charity and with the grace of the Holy Spirit, Christians may overcome divisions.”
The Apostleship of Prayer has called the new videos on the intentions “The Pope Video.” While there are two intentions, the videos are centered on the first, universal intention.
This month’s video also features old friends of the pontiff from his time in Buenos Aires. Namely, Rabbi Daniel Goldman, Fr. Guillermo Marco, a Catholic priest, and Islamic leader Omar Abboud.
Released on various social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the video shows Pope Francis speaking in his native Spanish, with subtitles available in a total of 10 different languages.
Papal prayer intentions for the rest of the year are listed on the organization’s website, displaying themes close to Francis’ heart, such as prayers for creation, families in difficulty, small farmers, indigenous peoples, countries receiving refugees, an end to child-soldiers, solidarity and respect for women.     CNA

Left Behind by the Jesuits

Here is the dictionary definition of the word Jesuit and Jesuitism BEFORE the dictionary was OWNED by the Jesuits:

JESUIT, n.
One of the society of Jesus, so called, founded by Ignatius Loyola; a society remarkable for their cunning in propagating their principles. ((Webster's 1828 Dictionary).
JESUITISM, n. The arts, principles and practices of the Jesuits.
1. Cunning, deceit; hypocrisy; prevarication; deceptive practices to effect a purpose. (Webster 1828 Dictionary).
St. Paul said that 2 things MUST happen FIRST before the end of the world:
1. A falling away or apostasy from Apostolic Christianity.
2. The Antichrist or Man of Sin to be revealed.
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
And now ye know what withholdeth (restrains) that he might be revealed in his time.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.
(II Thessalonians 2:1-12).
ALL of the Reformers applied this prophecy to the PAPAL DYNASTY. Saint Martin Luther said:
Oh Christ, my Lord, look down upon us and bring upon us the day of judgment, and destroy the brood of Satan at Rome. There sits the Man, of whom the Apostle Paul wrote that he would oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God — the Man of Sin, the son of perdition . . . What is the Temple of God? Is it stones and wood? Did not Paul say, The Temple of God is holy, which Temple ye are? To sit — what is it but to reign, to teach and to judge. Who from the beginning of the church has dared to call himself master of the whole church but the Pope alone. None of the saints, none of the heretics ever uttered so horrible a word of pride. (Luther's Works, Vol. 2. p. 281).
To the Reformers, the Man of Sin was synonymous with the Antichrist. Saint Martin Luther also said:
Antichrist is the pope and the Turk together; a beast full of life must have a body and soul; the spirit or soul of antichrist is the pope, his flesh or body the Turk. The latter wastes and assails and persecutes God's church corporally; the former spiritually and corporally too, with hanging, burning, murdering, &c. But, as in the apostle's time, the church had the victory over the Jews and Romans, so now will she keep the field firm and solid against the hypocrisy and idolatry of the pope, and the tyranny and devastations of the Turk and her other enemies. (Table Talk of Saint Martin Luther, p. 193).
This was the standard Protestant exposition of the Book of Revelation, and millions of Latin Church members were turning from Antichrist to Christ as they saw the clear fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Joshua the Messiah said:
And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that, WHEN it comes to pass, ye might believe (John 14:29).
This prophetic teaching (historicist) was playing havoc with the Latin Church. Millions were escaping and obeying the Lord's command to "come out of her" (Rev. 18:4).
The Rapture or Millions Missing hoax!!
In order to stop the hemorrhage from Papal Rome, 2 Jesuits invented a counter-interpretation called FUTURISM.
Francisco de Ribera, S.J.
Francisco de Ribera, S.J.
(1537-1591).
2 Jesuits named Francisco de Ribera and Robert Bellarmine invented the system called FUTURISM.
Futurism places the coming of Antichrist just 7 years before the end of time.
The Christians were hindering his coming, and they will be raptured out before his appearance.

Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, S.J.
Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, S.J.
(1542-1621).
Francisco Ribera was a Spanish doctor of theology who wrote a 500 page Latin commentary on Revelation (Apocalypse) entitled: In Sacrum Beati Ioannis Apostoli, & Evangelistiae Apocalypsin Commentarij, and published it about the year 1590....This commentary was never translated into any other language and was for the eyes of the hierarchy only!!
Robert Bellarmine was an Italian doctor of theology and is best known for his opposition to fellow Jesuit Galileo and his HELLiocentric theory. He also wrote a book in Latin entitled: Disputationes de controversiis christianae fidei, or Polemic Lectures Concerning the Disputed Points of the Christian Belief Against the Heretics of This Time. This book follows the basic outline of Francisco de Ribera's book with the reign of Antichrist limited to a few years way off in the future before the end of time.
In the Futurism system of Ribera and Bellarmine, Antichrist is an evil superman who emerges just 7 years before the end of time and causes all kinds of havoc.
In the English speaking world, Edward Irving and John Nelson Darby further elaborated on this system by inventing a secret rapture 7 years before the end. They correctly taught that the Christians are restraining evil—in this case Protestant Christians— who will be removed from the earth before the Antichrist will be revealed. In popular literature it is called the Rapture or catching away!!
Those who are LEFT BEHIND will get another chance to be saved ... if they choose death rather that accept the mark of the beast!!

If you think this is some kind of hoax or fantasy think again....This teaching is held by millions of "Protestant" Christians and is the foundation of a multi-million dollar publishing and movie empire.
The Pope and Caliph LOVE this fantasy because it blinds the believers to the PRESENT Antichrist!
According to the Futurist FANTASY:
1. Antichrist was one man . . . not a dynasty.
2. He would be an atheist or infidel.
3. He would not be revealed until 7 years before the end of time.
4. He would sit in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem and make a covenant with the Jews.
5. He would call himself God etc., etc.
6. The Christians were hindering his appearance but they would be "caught up" or raptured to Heaven before his appearance—the "Left Behind" madness!!
This Futurist fantasy was/is a fantastic money-maker.
Hal Lindsey and C.C. Carlson
The first book to really bring Futurism to the masses was a book entitled The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey and C.C. Carlson which appeared in 197O. That book has sold over 35 million copies and was translated into 54 languages.
Hal Lindsey is known as the father of modern "Bible" prophecy. His famous Late Great Planet Earth sold over 35 million copies and spawned the billion dollar end-times industry, whose books and videos repeat his dispensational theme, and are patterned after his novel writing style. Lindsey actually is a Jesuit in disguise as 2 of his daughters attended Jesuit Gonzaga University.

To Lindsey, Antichrist is a superman who will conquer the world just 7 years before the end of time.

The mysterious C.C. Carlson, who was the ghostwriter for Lindsey's books, turns out to be a woman—and most probably a nun in disguise!!
The mysterious C.C. Carlson, who was the ghostwriter for Lindsey's books, turns out to be a woman—and most probably a nun in disguise!!
The mysterious C. C. Carlson—ghostwriter for Lindsey's book's—finally turns out to be a woman....She should be called the MOTHER of modern "Bible" prophecy.
In Protestant Christianity, it is very unusual for a woman to write a prophecy book. Prior to 1971, you could count them on one hand. Edward Elliott and Charles Spurgeon surveyed history and listed the best expositors in Horae Apocalypticae and Commentating on Commentators. Neither man mentioned a woman.
Fortress Antonia a.k.a. Temple Mount.
Fortress Antonia a.k.a. Temple Mount.
According to Lindsey, the Dome of the Rock will be torn down and a Jewish temple built on the spot.
Then Antichrist will sit in this temple and make a 7 year covenant with the "Jews."

Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.
Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.
According to Lindsey, the Antichrist will be ONE man who will make a 7 year covenant with the "Jews." 31/2 years into his reign he will break his covenant, persecute the Jews, conquer the world, and finally be destroyed by Christ in a literal battle called Armageddon.
That is a brief synopsis of the entire Futurist fantasy.
Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins
When it became apparent that Futurism was the road that led to fame and riches, many jumped on this "Bible" prophecy bandwagon....2 of the most famous false profits are "Reverend" Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins who originated the Left Behind publishing empire.
"Reverend" Tim LaHaye.
"Reverend" Tim LaHaye.
These men are laughing all the way to the bank because the Futurist FANTASY is a goldmine.
Obviously these self-fulfilling "prophecies" need "Jews" for their fulfillment and that is the reason for the existence of the state of Israel.

Jerry B. Jenkins.
Jerry B. Jenkins.
These men are laughing all the way to the bank due to the phenomenal success of their Left Behind series. Most libraries in the U.S. have copies of their books . . . but fortunately they are listed under "Christian" FICTION.
In their books, the Rapture has already taken place and the hero and heroine battle the evil Antichrist named Nicolae Carpathia from the country of Romania!!
Left Behind by Jerry B. Jenkins
The Mark by Tim LaHaye
Tribulation Force b y Tim LaHaye
The phenomenally successful Left Behind series features over 8 full length books and 2 Hollywood movies. These books were almost as successful as the Harry Potter books.
