Biological Male Crowned Miss Silver State USA

Breitbar 18 Mar 2021

Kataluna Enriquez, a biological male who identifies as a woman, has been crowned Miss Silver State USA, which is described as the “biggest preliminary competition for the Miss Nevada USA pageant.”

Enriquez bested the biological females in the competition, putting him in the position to compete for the state’s competition, Miss Nevada USA, with hopes of competing in the bigger contests, Miss USA and Miss Universe.

“Miss Silver State was a great experience,” Enriquez told local outlet FOX 5, describing it as a “celebration of womanhood and diversity and this celebration of being your true self.”

Enriquez detailed his experiences competing in other pageants outside of the state, one of which asked for documents from a doctor. The competitor described the request as “invasive.”

The “Positive” Jesus In The Scandinavian Church

Breitbart 18 Sep 2020

The Scandinavian church, which is notionally Evangelical Lutheran, earned a substantial backlash for the stunt, with social media users claiming to be former congregants citing such “woke” virtue-signalling as their reason for leaving its dwindling flock.

But Petur Georg Markan, the Church’s media representative defended the advert, saying that it supports diversity and suggesting that having Jesus depicted in different ways is positive, according to MailOnline.

In this [advert], we see a Jesus who has breasts and a beard. We’re trying to embrace society as it is. We have all sorts of people and we need to train ourselves to talk about Jesus as being ‘all sorts’ in this context,” he insisted.

“Especially because it’s really important that each and every person see themselves in Jesus and that we don’t stagnate too much. That’s the essential message. So this is okay. It’s okay that Jesus has a beard and breasts,” he added.

Christians urged: Speak the truth in love on trans issues

christians-urged-speak-the-truth-in-love-on-trans-issues

People wrestling with transsexualism need the truth and the love of the Bible, a Christian theologian has said.
Rob Smith, a lecturer at an Australian Bible college, warned that all people will try to invent themselves in a potentially damaging way, unless “we find our rest in Christ”.
In a series of interviews with the Desiring God website, Smith addressed the tension between public and pastoral responses to the issue, saying that the core of the answer must remain unchanged.

Truth

Smith said that the possible causes of gender dysphoria, believing you are in the wrong body, can be complex.
But he said “the truth is the truth and our message is the same”, while acknowledging there is a distinction between how we respond to activists seeking to ‘deconstruct gender’ and genuine sufferers.
“Our political engagement and our pastoral practice can’t be two completely separate things”, he explained, adding it is a love for our neighbours and a concern for society which is behind both.
He said Christians need to listen to transsexuals’ stories, but make sense of them “in the light of Scripture”.

Regret

Discussing the levels of regret that people face, he stated, “for those who take the radical steps of sex reassignment surgery, there is so much that cannot then be undone”.
He urged Christians to engage in the issue with “gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).
Until we find our rest in Christ, we will be trying to invent ourselves in some way or anotherRob Smith
But he emphasised that while helping people struggling with transsexualism is not easy, “encouraging or enabling” them to ‘change sex’ is not the answer.

Rest

Smith concluded by recognising that all people have been made by God. He said finding our identity in Jesus is “really the only place for any of us to begin”.
“This, of course, may be highlighted in a special way for those who are battling unwanted same-sex attraction as it is for those who are battling unwanted gender dysphoria.
“But it is actually true of all of us. Until we find our rest in Christ, we will be trying to invent ourselves in some way or another, in a way that will only end in tears.”

Former transsexual

Rob Smith is a theologian who studied at Moore Theological College before becoming a lecturer at Sydney Missionary and Bible College, Australia.
In February, former transsexual Walt Heyer spoke to The Christian Institute about his experience, after the BBC promoted hormone therapy and sex-change surgery in its six o’clock news bulletin.           Christian

In the 1970s a cousin of mine, Paula Grossman, became one of the first people in America to undergo sex-reassignment surgery. As Paul Monroe Grossman, Cousin Paula had been a beloved music teacher in New Jersey. She was fired after her surgery, and she subsequently lost her lawsuit for wrongful termination based on sex discrimination (though a court did rule that she could receive a disability pension). The story was all over the news back then; I’d like to think it would have ended differently today.
Forty years after the Supreme Court refused to hear Paula’s appeal in 1976, the transgender story is still unfolding. This month, a transgender high school student in Virginia lost the right to use the restroom of his choice when the Supreme Court temporarily blocked a lower court’s order. Still, for the first time it is possible to imagine a ruling from a fully seated Supreme Court to comprehensively outlaw discrimination against transgender people. There is real reason to be hopeful, even if social prejudices don’t disappear overnight.
I’m a rabbi, and so I’m particularly saddened whenever religious arguments are brought in to defend social prejudices — as they often are in the discussion about transgender rights. In fact, the Hebrew Bible, when read in its original language, offers a highly elastic view of gender. And I do mean highly elastic: In Genesis 3:12, Eve is referred to as “he.” In Genesis 9:21, after the flood, Noah repairs to “her” tent. Genesis 24:16 refers to Rebecca as a “young man.” And Genesis 1:27 refers to Adam as “them.”
Surprising, I know. And there are many other, even more vivid examples: In Esther 2:7, Mordecai is pictured as nursing his niece Esther. In a similar way, in Isaiah 49:23, the future kings of Israel are prophesied to be “nursing kings.”                  NYTimes

A bill currently in the California Senate would strictly limit the freedom of religious schools

A bill currently in the California Senate would strictly limit the freedom of religious schools to admit and teach students, hire professors, and engage in religious practices in line with their beliefs.
Senate Bill 1146 was sponsored by Sen. Ricardo Lara, who represents the 33rd district of California. His purpose in drafting the legislation was to prevent religiously affiliated schools from obtaining exemptions from Title IX, a federal law that was originally intended to prevent discrimination against women in educational programs that receive federal funding. The U.S. Department of Education has recently attempted to extend the protections to transgender students.
Schools can currently get exemptions from certain requirements that, if followed, would undermine their religious beliefs. The bill would force schools that have obtained exemptions to inform the California Student Aid Commission, as well as students and staff.

Under current law, schools do not have to disclose this information. The bill would also allow students who claim to have been discriminated against under the exemption to file a lawsuit.
“All students deserve to feel safe in institutions of higher education, regardless of whether they are public or private,” Lara said in a statement. “California has established strong protections for the LGBTQ community and private universities should not be able to use faith as an excuse to discriminate and avoid complying with state laws. No university should have a license to discriminate.”
Organizations supporting the bill include the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Equality California and the Transgender Law Center.
“Students and staff have a right to know when their school requests a license to discriminate against the LGBT community,” said Dave Garcia, director of policy and community building for the Los Angeles LGBT Center. “This bill will protect LGBT people who work and study at private universities and will allow all Californians to be more informed.”
Equality California also supports the measure. “Prospective students have a right to know if a university they are considering attending discriminates against LGBT people,” said Rick Zbur, the organization’s executive director. “This bill would let any school seeking to skirt federal anti-discrimination protections know that its policies would be public.”
Not every state senator is in agreement. Sen. John Moorlach of the 37th district wrote in a letter to constituents, “Senate Bill 1146 goes far beyond the appropriate role of government designed to provide protections against discrimination. In fact, Senate Bill 1146 discriminates against private and independent universities that hold themselves and their student body to a certain moral code that is thousands of years old. Punishing private institutions for adhering to long-held codes of conduct consistent with their beliefs is inappropriate and destructive to our education system. This legislation unfairly targets the beliefs of the schools, their students and community.”
Moorlach based his stance on constitutional rights, such as the freedom of religion. “Senate Bill 1146 does not safeguard against discrimination, but rather is a form of discrimination against religious liberty itself,” he wrote. “Restricting private institutions from adhering to its religious beliefs is a violation of their First Amendment rights and an act itself of intolerance.”

It should be noted that the California Constitution expressly protects both freedom of religion and freedom of speech, as well as guaranteeing the right to “assemble freely.”
The consensus among religious schools that would be affected by the bill is that it would severely limit their religious freedom and educational mission.
Jon R. Wallace, president of Azusa Pacific University, said he listened to the testimony on the bill and believes those involved all want the same things for students — “care, love, safety, and security.”
“The California higher education system has always been robust,” Wallace said. “I really think this is a solution looking for a problem.”
Wallace discussed the diversity of the Los Angeles area, which has dozens of cultures and languages, as well as many religious institutions. He described religious schools as filling a need in the area. “The church wants a place to send students,” he said. “The danger [with the bill] is that the important voice of religious schools could be silenced. This bill guts student choice. [These schools] are safe places for students [to explore their beliefs] in Christian environments.”
Concordia University Irvine concurs. “As written, the bill would severely limit our schools’ ability to faithfully live out our religious mission,” Kurt J. Krueger, president of Concordia, said in a letter written to the Assembly’s judiciary committee chairman. “The ability of a Lutheran Christian university like ours to act in a manner consistent with our religious tenets and mission is not a problem to be solved, but a freedom that is constitutionally protected.”
Richard Kriegbaum, president of Fresno Pacific University, pointed out that the issue the bill purports to address seems to not be an issue on religious campuses.
“The bill would be bad public policy in part because the bill seeks to force schools to address an issue that does not exist on our campus or at other similar schools,” he stated in an email. “No data-based or even anecdotal evidence supports the existence of mistreatment or lack of educational success among the LGBT students who choose our school(s).”
Holly Scheer, writing in The Federalist, makes the point that no one is forcing students to attend universities whose beliefs and teachings they disagree with. “It seems sensible that if you don’t want an education imbued with the values of a religion—any religion—attending classes at a religious school would be a poor choice for you,” Scheer writes. “This is not a day or age of limited academic choices.”
The bill will go before the state Assembly Judiciary committee on Tuesday.        Western Journalism

Obama defended his decision to open up bathrooms to students of both sexes based on preference, citing his religious faith as a reason he decided to do it.

President Barack Obama defended his decision to open up bathrooms to students of both sexes based on preference, citing his religious faith as a reason he decided to do it.

“My reading of scripture tells me that that [the] Golden Rule is pretty high up there in terms of my Christian belief,” he said during a town hall in Elkhart, Indiana.
Local resident Arvis Dawson questioned Obama during the event, wondering why the president decided to make it such an issue.
“What happened and what continues to happen is you have transgender kids in schools and they get bullied and they get ostracized and it’s tough for them,” Obama said, saying that in the past, students were forced to suffer silently.
Obama insisted repeatedly that he wasn’t trying to make it a big issue, but that schools around the country were struggling with the proper procedure on the issue.
“It’s not like I woke up one day and I said, man, you know what we really need to do is let’s start working on high school bathrooms,” he insisted, saying he was already more focused on ISIS.
He explained that transgender students “might not even feel comfortable going to the bathroom” which was a “tough situation” that he wanted to alleviate.
“I have profound respect for everybody’s religious beliefs on this, but if you’re at a public school, the question is, how do we just make sure that, children are treated with kindness,” he concluded.   Breitbart
