LIVONIA, Mich. (ChurchMilitant.com) - Last Friday, St. Colette Parish
in Livonia, Michigan was vandalized, and anti-Catholic messages were
spraypainted on parish property. The evidence suggests protestant
fundamentalists.
The vandal(s) spray-painted a statue of the Blessed Virgin red and the message "Rome Will Fall" on church doors.
ChurchMilitant.com
spoke with St. Colette's pastor, Fr. Gary Michaelik. "The report came
in at about 9 p.m. on Friday," said Fr. Michaelik. "I was walking by the
statue around 4 p.m. and everything was fine then. So it must have
happened sometime between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday."
On the same evening, not three miles south, at the Franciscan
Felician Sisters' Motherhouse, the sidewalk was also painted with red
messages that said "Pope is False Prophet," "No Idols," "Repent," "Jesus
is Lord," "Jesus is coming," and an ambiguous message about "Mystery
Babylon."
The "Babylon" message may refer to the "whore of Babylon" in
Revelations 17:4–5, with which many protestants identify the Catholic
Church.
"Considering what they wrote, it appears to be a fundamentalist or
extremist Christian group," said Fr. Michaelik, adding that it was
confusing why any Christian would go to such extreme measures. "Jesus
never fostered criminal violence," he said.
Father Michaelik also speculated that the vandalism might be connected to the recent Las Vegas Mass disruptions by protestants shouting "Pope, Mary's statue and idols gonna' send you to Hell!"
"We don't know if it's a coincidence or if it was an organized effort," he said.
The incidents are being investigated by the Livonia Police Department. Church Militant
Note: I don't support this vandalism. This is only to show how close we are from the second coming of Christ. The time of trouble is at hand. Let us get closer to God now that we can find Him.
